What's for dinner...

Life is too short...
eat dessert first!

My mom was famous for making her
southern banana pudding at the holidays

Sometimes she would surprise us after school with the
delectable dessert as a special treat

Another of her favorite desserts…banana splits

We would head to the store and pick out
all our favorite fixins for a home-made version

mmm...brings back memories
and I'm craving it as I type!

I decided to combine the two desserts into one fabulous

banana extravaganza

Banana Split

I layered all the ingredients into a trifle bowl
and then topped it with even
more yummy goodness!

Trifle

Here's how I did it!

Banana Dessert
This is a lovely presentation and would make a great
Mother's Day dessert

    1. I was scared to even find out what the calorie count actually was! Now don't quote me 100% but according to a couple different online calculators I am coming up with 243 calories per serving. I did list 12 servings for the container and I think that is fairly accurate.
You could cut even more calories if you used reduced calorie cool whip and chocolate syrup. I'm not sure if skim milk would work well with the pudding, but you could try that also. Hope that helps!

P.S. Not nearly as bad as I thought it would be!

  7. I am currently making this for a desert for a dinner at my church. It's looking great! I did have to go back to the store and buy another tub of cool whip because the tub I had didn't cover it. Maybe it's because my bowl is too wide.

    I hope everyone loves it!
