I have seriously never been less ready for a season, as I am for fall this year. Don't get me wrong, fall is truly a beautiful time of year and there are so many things I love; however, that means summer is over and the closing of the pool is near, dang it!
From the moment we built our home seven years ago, there was one thing that I knew for sure I would replace someday...the mantel. It just didn't seem to fit the scale of the room, or the fireplace. They say, good things come to those who wait, and boy oh boy, I must have been really patient because I love my new mantel!
The old mantel was actually stained oak and was quite expensive but wasn't the look I was going for from the beginning. I painted it white this past year and loved it, if only it was bigger.
The new mantel not only is more chunky but it spans the width of the fireplace and we added simple corbels. I just love it!
With a blank space to work with I decided to put back up some of my summer coastal type things (since, I'm NOT over summer yet) with a bit of fall, as my girlfriend said, "You'll have to do it in a couple weeks anyway". Bah!
The thing about making something bigger...the old stuff just doesn't seem to fit now! No, I'm not going to shop for new fall stuff (I'll keep repeating this in my head as you continue).
Oh and my adorable little witch is back too, remember her?
A little too early to buy real pumpkins, so for now...
here she is
Happy "almost" fall!
